The MRI results are in: Emmett's tumor has shrunk, but not disappeared. Our doctors are encouraged that the tumor has responded to chemotherapy and radiation, but they're frank about the fact that the tumor needs to be gone at this point in the therapy for Emmett to survive. So now they're looking at ways to get rid of the rest of it. At this point they're recommending more invasive surgeries to remove the tumor followed by high dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue. The jury is still out on the long term consequences of this treatment path...a lot depends on how far we'll let them go. Perhaps the biggest decisions of our lives will be made in the days ahead.
We're glad the tumor HAS responded to treatment. We're thankful the news wasn't worse -- it could have been much worse. Please keep us in your prayers this week.

Thinking about you guys, and sending prayers your way! <3 The Povedas
We're glad to hear there was some progress but sad to hear you have difficult decisions ahead. As always, you'll be in our prayers.
Thinking of you and sending prayers. Will put your names on the Bountiful Temple prayer roll. Love to all. Val

Oops! Didn't mean to say it twice!
I wanted to call and ask Betsy this week about the results, but I also wanted to respect your family's privacy by waiting for the blog post so I didn't call. I'm so sorry it wasn't the news that you were hoping for. We will keep all of you in our prayers and will add Emmett to the temple prayer roll here in AZ again. Thank you for your great examples of faith as you have experienced this trial so far.
Unimaginable decisions, I know. I'm sorry the tumor is still there. I will continue to think of you all and pray that you will have clarity of mind and peace in your decisions. You are doing a phenomenal job in a horrible situation.
Kiss Emmett once for me!
I've mostly been relying on Royce for news of how things have been with Emmett, but I decided to find your blog so I could keep up on my own. I just want you to know that we've been praying for all of you regularly, but we will increase our faith and prayers even more this week. I can't imagine how heartbreaking this has been for you both to watch your sweet boy battle this. I can't imagine having to make the kinds of decisions you may be faced with. I will continue to stay tuned to the blog now that I know where it is. My love to all of you.--Heather
You're in our thoughts and prayers. We know you guys will make the best decision possible.
Much love,

You guys are continually in our prayers!!!

How is a parent supposed to make these decisions... you'll be in our prayers...
Haven't posted till now, but my wife & I have been following for months. (We're good friends of Jason's). We've been keeping him on the Portland roll too as I'm there every week. Emmett has been constantly in our prayers. Every night and morning prayer with our little Logan, who is two days older than Emmett, has included prayers for him too. :)
Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. It really does help to know how many people care and are praying for us. We need all the help we can get at this very difficult time. Thanks again!
